Language and Communication: Deaf Education (ED0336)

It is essential that deaf children enjoy the rich linguistic and communication experiences which are the right of every child. This module provides an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed to empower deaf learners through the development of effective language and communication. Course members will be expected to reflect on their personal philosophy in relation to language learning and deafness, and to work towards developing flexibility of approach according to the needs of the learner. When undertaken as part of the PG Diploma in Deaf Education, entry requirements include either BSL Skills Stage 1 or a commitment to undertake this as an additional study concurrent with the PG Diploma.
