By the end of the module, you will be able to: apply a variety of techniques of discourse analysis to the analysis of samples of written and spoken English; critically compare the merits of different techniques; identify the usefulness and practicability of applying such techniques to gather and analyse data in their own situation; evaluate the role of discourse analysis in producing or evaluating materials for learning languages.
