Frequently a child's second language development shows features which can be mistaken for, or cover up, language disorder/delay, hearing impairment, learning difficulties. Such mistakes are more likely to occur where bilingualism is viewed in deficit terms. This module explores these issues critically, and considers approaches to assessment and support of bilingual learners causing concern.
