Environmental Education and Education for Sustainability (ED0747)

This module has four units: 1)Why Bother with Sustainability Education?; 2)Values and Attitudes; 3)The Cultural Dimension; 4)Change in Primary Schools 1) This unit has eight possible starting points for a school adopting a whole school approach to sustainability education. These sections are designed to get course members to examine the implications of each of these starting points for a sustainability education programme in their own school. 2) Most national policies or strategies on environmental education or sustainability education make specific reference to changing values and attitudes as part of the process of achieving sustainable action. This unit looks at some of the ways in which values education can be undertaken within schools, both inside and outside the classroom. 3) Culture influences the way that we make sense of the environment.
