Technology Teaching 2 (ED0940)

This course seeks to establish the body of knowledge and skill required to develop a pupil's technological capability. It will provide an opportunity to form a cognitive map of both the technology and the design process, and of the teaching strategies, that can be employed to bring about effective learning.

Please note the class runs 10.30 am - 12.00 noon then 1pm - 3.30 pm

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course the student should be able to:
1. Describe the learning outcomes prescribed for the S3-S4 technology programme.

2. Analyse and apply technological experiences and explain their learning outcomes.

3. Design interesting and challenging technological activities.

4. Complete the necessary preparation (including serial day visits) to enable them to undertake the Year 2 placement in Semester 2. This will involve the preparation of teaching material and the assessment of work related to the Education 2 course.

Assessment Information

1. Design project for S3/4 33%
2. Provide teaching material for a pneumatic circuit 33%
3. Provide CAD drawings and a teaching aid for graphic communication 33%
