Promoting Physical Activity (ED1009)

This half-course will explore the potential benefits of physical activity to health, current levels of activity in various populations and recommendations as to the amount and type of activity recommended. Theoretical models of activity promotion will be introduced and developed to provide a basis to underpin policy and strategy. Practical examples of activity promotion schemes will be discussed and reviewed.

Entry Requirements

? This course is not available to visting students.

? Pre-requisites : Admission to Third Year, with successful completion of First and Second Year Sport Science courses recommended.

Understand the potential benefits of activity to health;
Analyse patterns of activity in selected populations and identify potential barriers to activity;
Apply theoretical models to the development of policy and strategy;
Review and evaluate schemes of activity promotion
