Self and Others (ED1143)

The aims of this module are: 1) to introduce the idea that the self can be understood in the context of present and past relationships with others; 2) to explore critically person-centred and psychodynamic perspectives on the self and relationships with others; 3) to consider the relationship dimensions of counselling and other helping relationships; 4) to develop listening and responding capacity in practice relationships, which will include feedback; 5) to introduce ethical and boundary issues in counselling and other helping relationships. This module can only be taken after completion of the Introduction to Counselling and the Counselling Approach modules. Students may take only one counselling module per academic term. This module will cost an additional 75 pounds.
