Literacy and Dyslexia - Planning and Designing Interventions (ED1156)

This module is part 2 of the programme jointly developed by the University of Edinburgh and the Open University. The programme is available in two modes - distance learning and as a taught course, both of which will utilise the full supporting materials specifically developed by the course team for the course. These materials consist of a comprehensive four part study guide, 2 readers, 1 set book, and AVA materials consisting of a 1 hour video and 4 audio cassette programmes. The programme will develop an understanding of the social and curricular issues relating to literacy and dyslexia within the policy and practice of inclusion. The course will enable students to develop an awareness of the range of pedagogic approaches to difficulties in literacy development and an awareness of the curricular difficulties experienced by students. The programme will consist of 4 parts: conceptualising the barriers to literacy within the curriculum; equity issues, inclusion and the law;
