Retailing Management and Strategy (MG0001)

The course will comprise study of a series of case studies of retail firms. The firms will be selected to illustrate particular issues of retail strategy, structure performance and management and will include UK and non-UK firms and both large and small firms.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The new course will enable the advanced application of the principles and concepts obtained in the existing Retailing course through study of a series of case studies of different retail firms. The course will extend the knowledge of the student and also enhance their analytical and synthetic skills. Transferable skills of presentation will also be enhanced.

Assessment Information

30% for three studies (10% ech) submitted for assessment -each member of the group will receive the same mark for the group submission; 10% for the presentation - graded on a group basis; 60% for a written answer to unseen questions on a case under normal examination conditions with the case given to the students in advance of the examination.
