Acronym : HEA-P-R&EHCHS Increasing importance is being attached to evidence-based practice and policy in healthcare systems around the world. This reflects a growing awareness of the necessity for health care and health services to make best use of science and technology in delivering high quality and cost-effective services and in systematically evaluating their outcomes, whether in terms of individual benefit, service attainment, consumer satisfaction or public health improvement. All healthcare professional are now expected to have a sophisticated understanding of how research methods and research findings can be exploited in the delivery, development and evaluation of services for the benefit of patients and clients. This course assumes that students already possess at least some basic theoretical knowledge of the process and methods of research. Entry Requirements? Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- To enhance understanding of the role of research in nursing and health services
- To examine some of the more complex issues (epistemological, methodological, practical and ethical) which are attached to research methods and their applications in clinical practice and health service evaluation - To enhance skills in critical appraisal, developing research proposals and managing a research project.
