This course develops from Nursing 1 and explores constructs of the individual. Relevant practicals and clinicals are either mental health branch based or adult based. Understanding nursing care covers a wide range of topics such as biological sciences, mental health issues,ethics and communication and the approach of holistic care.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Apply the concepts and skills introduced in the first year of the course to the discrete illness experience with respect to both physical and mental health.
Demonstrate the integration of theoretical and practice-centred learning in relation to the major concepts of care.
Demonstrate safe, effective and evidence-based practice responsive to the needs of patient/client groups in adult care and mental health settings.
Demonstrate the principles of ethical and accountable practice.
Demonstrate the principles of equity and fairness in care delivery.
Demonstrate the development of critical thinking, problem solving and reflective capacities essential for profesional knowledge and practice.

2 exams plus 2 course papers 2,500-3,000 words
