Nursing and Health Care Management (P00110)

? Credit Points : 20  ? SCQF Level : 11  ? Acronym : HEA-P-NHCM

This course will examine topical management issues, which are relevant to nurses and other health care providers who may or may not have experience in the higher levels of management. Account is taken of recent changes in different levels and aspects of health care organisation, such as changes affecting the provision, the recipients and the providers. Research into management is critically utilised wherever suitable material exists. Political and ethical aspects feature prominently in the reading on which this course unit is founded, inevitably raising questions about the value systems underpinning decision-making. The context is the UK health care system in Scotland, but comparisons are made with health care systems in other countries.
