Chinese Language 1A (P00199)

The course is designed for graduates with little or no prior knowledge of Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin). Students will be introduced to spoken and written Chinese.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Elementary students will encounter 700-800 vocabulary items and approximately 500 characters. They will be able to conduct basic conversations and to read and write short texts in simplified Chinese characters.

Assessment Information

Formative assessment by class performance,written exercises and semester oral and written exams.
