It enables students to critically evaluate existing tests in the light of these theories and practices and to devise tests appropriate to their own language learners. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
1.1 demonstrate an understanding of central concepts in learner assessment; 1.2 select appropriate methods of learner assessment; 1.3 devise their own assessment instruments; 1.4 analyse and evaluate assessment data; 1.5 evaluate different kinds of language tests. Assessment Information
Participants will complete a series of tasks including: devising specifications for a test, designing a sample test, analysis of test results, evaluation of a test.
The final assignment will require participants to provide a rationale and evaluation of a selected test. The evaluation will identify ways in which the test might be improved. Participants will produce a written evaluation of a test sample, giving clear indications of ways in which the test could be improved.
