Mergers, Acquisitions, Restructurings and Corporate Governance (P00234)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MSE-P-MARCG This course will cover the theoretical and institutional framework behind mergers and acquisitions, including the motives and process for take-overs, and also legal, regulatory, accounting and tax issues. Empirical results from mergers and acquisitions will be studied, including tests of financial and operational performance. Corporate governance issues, including incentives, compensation and regulatory requirements will also be reviewed. Entry Requirements? Mergers and acquisitions continue to be a common method to achieve corporate strategic goals. The course aims to provide a complete treatment of the leading topics related to mergers, acquisitions, restructuring and corporate control to better understand the transaction and value created. The course will also discuss recent concerns over corporate governance, by examining issues such as control mechanisms and executive compensation.
Assessment Information
Assessment will be via a two-hour examination at the end of semester one (70% of the final mark) and an essay during the semester (30% of the final mark).
