Developmental Phonology (P00252)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : PPL-P-DEVPHOLIN The aim of this course is to give an introduction to current research on developmental phonology. The course reviews key issues, concepts and findings in the development of speech, phonetics and phonological competence in first and second language acquisition. Both theoretical and methodological issues will be discussed. Entry Requirements? Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this course students should be able to understand current issues in the research on phonological development, including:
- the development of speech in early childhood - phonological representations in developing lexicons - models of phonological development in L1 and L2 acquisition Students should also have gained familiarity with the empirical methods used in research on phonological development.
