Design Research Project (P00326)

This is dissertation-type course involving work in various digital and analogue media that will be a product of individual or group work. The project will be supervised as a dissertation would be. It will focus on a topic to be developed in discussion with the course organiser. But students are encouraged to develop topics that relate to their own motivations in practicing architectural design. Topics may be developed over the course of semester 2, with the final submission date being in September. The central academic concerns of this course are the integration of various intellectual themes, specified architectural design strategies, and appropriate digital representation techniques.

Entry Requirements

? Costs : Processes and materials involved in the presentation of their work: printing and reprographic charges, photographic costs, drawing and modelling materials; digital storage etc.

? Contact Teaching Time : 1 hour(s) per week for 11 weeks

? Additional Class Information : Tutorials and supervisions scheduled intermittently between week 7 and September.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- Skills in the integration of a wide range of knowledge types;
- A thorough understanding of the way in which a working digital project progresses from start to completion;
- An appreciation of the role of various forms of representation in contemporary architectural design.
