Medieval Irish Literature (P00403)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : LLC-P-P00403 This course examines a representative selection of medieval Irish literature in English translation. Both prose and verse genres will be discussed both in the light of recent literary scholarship and under consideration of their social and historical background. The course will focus on reading texts within their contemporary medieval context, and on developing a full picture of the diversity of the early Irish literary tradition. As far as possible, it will use contemporary medieval approaches to the interpretation and description of the literature.
