It encourages students to undertake a detailed and in-depth analysis of the issues, and promotes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of families using legal theory and relevant theory from other disciplines such as sociology and anthropology. Students will be able to:
- Apply analytical and critical skills to detailed examination of the contemporary problems which arise in the field of family law in Scotland, with reference to some comparative material from other jurisdictions - Demonstrate critical understanding and evaluate specific areas within the domain of family law. This includes using theories from legal and other disciplines. - Criticise constructively current laws and to suggest and evaluate possible reforms in the light of prevailing social economic and political conditions - Demonstrate written and oral skills of students through class discussion and written assessment Assessment Information
