This course introduces the intellectual discipline of experimental psycholinguistics. Surveying central topics in normal adult language behaviour, the course shows how models and experimental methods are used to explore those swift, invisible processes which make us fluent users of language.

An appreciation of psycholinguistic models; an understanding of experimtnal methods in the field; the ability to read, summarize, and support arguments from primary experimental literature; hands on experience of a machine-readable dictionary; collaborative research and presentation skills
