Meeting the Needs of Autistic Learners (P00559)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : EDU-P-P00559 The module is designed to help educators and carers to meet the intellectual and emotional challenges posed by this vulnerable and demanding group of pupils who have a wide range of intellectual ability including those with Asperger's Syndrome. Course members are expected to work with a pupil on the autistic spectrum as an integral component of this module. Course members will:
- develop enhanced understanding through research findings, reading and discussion. - apply this understanding to developing learning approaches, curricula and contexts that would be helpful to learners with autism. - use appropriate observation, assessment and liaison with others on which to base programme planning, and plan appropriate means of evaluating their success. - understand the importance of inter-professional collaboration and of working in partnership with families.
