Dissertation (MSc in Nursing) (P00629)

The MSc dissertation normally takes the form of a proposal for a research project, consisting of an extended review of relevant literature and a research plan whose aims and methods are clearly linked with and logically derived from the proceding discussion. A library-based project using secondary data, is equally acceptable, but this should be carefully explored with the supervisor.

? Pre-requisites : Permission to 'Proceed to Dissertation' by Progress Board on basis of satisfactory performance in Taught component of MSc in Nursing.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The objectives fo the dissertation are to give the student an opportunity to undertake an extended study of a particular topic, and to formulate a reasoned research approach on the basis of a critical appraisal of existing theory and knowledge.

Assessment Information

The dissertation should be 10,000-15,000 words in length.
