Cancer Care: Scientific Basis of Cancer (P00632)

This course aims to deepen the student's understanding of the biological principles involved in the development and spread of cancer and to appraise the student's knowledge of the principles underpinning therapeutic options in contemporary cancer care.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Explain the process involved in the transformation of a normal cell to a cancer cell.
Appraise the impact of genetic developments on contemporary cancer care.
Discuss how epidemiological studies contriburte to cancer care.
Evaluate the theories around the devlopment of metastatic disease.
Critically evaluate the rational behind the main treatment modalities employed as cancer therapy.
