A knowledge and understanding of
- the origins, conceptual and theoretical basis of Archaeobotany in its widest sense and how it contributes to the study of the human past and other cognate environmental sciences. - the different ways in which people have utilised plant resources and the evolution of the common crop husbandry regimes. - the impact which these developing agricultural systems have had upon the wider plant communities which make up the 'vegetation landscape'. - the integration of the data produced by the study of plant remains into wider archaeological concerns and the illustration as to how plant remains may illuminate more than the 'economy'.
