Research Methods and Problems in European Cultural Studies (P00678)

The course provides an advanced introduction to specific research problems, theories and methods in European Cultural Studies. It prepares students for the competent development of research questions, advises them on possible approaches and requires them to write a research plan and a literature overview of together 4,000 words in preparation for the dissertation work.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Familiarity with the nature of interdisciplinary research and the variety of possible approaches in the field; awareness of the interrelations between recent political, social, cultural and media developments in Europe; ability to formulate competent research questions and plan the research required to answer the question; in addition improvement of oral and written presentation skills.

Assessment Information

A research plan and a literature overview of together 4,000 words.
