Literacy and Dyslexia: Literacy, Equity and Social Perspectives (P00763)

This course provides a critical understanding of the area of literacy and dyslexia, examining the literature in literacy, reading models and different forms of literacy and the impact on these for learners with dyslexia. The course will also focus on equity issues relating to literacy, legislation, resources and provision.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Course members will have a critical understanding of the different perspectives and different types of literacy intervention in schools. They will be able to consider the implications of educational/social/cultural perspectives in relation to the development of literacy skills among with dyslexia.



Assessment Information

Course members will need to demonstrate a critical understanding of the debates and issues relating to difficulties in literacy development and how curricular and other frameworks can help to address these needs.
