Design Creativity and Problem Solving (P01001)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MSE-P-GIMBADCPS The course aims to provide an integrated and coherent introduction to modern Design, Creativity and Problem-Solving. The course will develop an awareness of the practical implications of choosing one technique over another and an appreciation of the use of Design, Creativity and Problem-Solving techniques in management in general. Upon completion of the course the students should be able to:
- appreciate the nature of Design, Creativity and Problem-Solving and the relationship between these topics - display an understanding of practical techniques and frameworks available for dealing with these topics within an organisational setting - demonstrate that they can apply and adapt the presented subjects, skills and techniques to a particular situation, suggesting possible improvement - appreciate other available resources (information, courses, and stakeholders) for effectively harnessing and managing design and creativity within organisations, especially under conditions of rapid change - demonstrate an understanding of how the participants in the process can affect the outcome Assessment Information
The course will be assessed through two individual essays each accounting for 25% of the total mark and one team project, including an electronic log of progress accounting for 50% of the total mark. Students will be expected to undertake simple creative construction activities in relation to the group project to complement other course activities
