Organisations and Behaviour (P01021)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : MSE-P-GIMBAOB All of the course topics will focus on the dynamics of human behaviour at work, providing insights both of conceptual and practical nature to managers directly involved in attaining an effective balance between changing organisational requirements and employee performance and behaviour. The course will provide knowledge concerning current organisational and managerial processes and dilemmas, in particular outlining knowledge on changing environmental conditions shaping management strategies. It will familiarise students with current research in organisational analysis, focus on key analytical and policy issues concerning the management of non-technical innovation and change as well as examine the human resource influences and implications of innovation and change in organisations Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Normally participation in Management Development 1: Personal Effectiveness and Learning Technology ? Upon completion of the course students should have developed critical analytical skills, enabling them to identify aspects of continuity and change in organisational functioning and practice, as well as to identify some of the concerns of al organisational stakeholders. They should be able to:
- understand key debates on organisational processes and the management of people - compare and contrast alternative frameworks for understanding organisations - understand the role of social innovation and change in organisations contributing to competitiveness - apply heir knowledge of organisational analysis, both individually and in groups, to real managerial issues and problems Assessment Information
The course will be assessed through one individual organisation studies project, including an electronic log of progress; one company report; and one group project, including an electronic log of progress. All assignments count equally towards the final mark
