Acronym : ACE-P-MEditionA Students will prepare an edition of part or all of one or more musical manuscripts or prints, or a musical document. The musical source should present some challenge, whether because of the complexity of the notation, the state of the manuscript or a complicated relationship between more than one source. The edition will be presented in a scholarly fashion and accompanied by all necessary critical apparatus and by an introduction of at least 1,000 words describing the source(s), their inter-relationship, the composer and the significance of the music being edited. - Students will have learned how to transcribe an extended body of music and to deal with challenges of notational complexity, relationship between sources, difficulties in the text etc.
- They will have learned to make informed scholarly decisions in cases where sources are in error or in conflict with each other. - They will have learned how to present a scholarly edition, with full critical apparatus, making clear all editorial decisions and additions. Assessment Information
The submission of an edition of part or all of one or more musical manuscripts or prints, or a musical document, to be accompanied by an essay of at least 1,000 words (100%).
