Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the course, students will:
(a) have a basic grasp of non-quantitative sociolinguistic issues as they relate to English
(b) have developed their knowledge of relevant sociolinguistic terminology
(c) have come to an understanding of the relationship between language and culture
(d) have an understanding of the application of the above to English in a range of social contexts

Assessment Information

Coursework providing 100% of the final mark. The coursework will comprise one 4,000 word essay (or fieldwork project) on a topic agreed by the course manager
