Acronym : LLC-P-G The principal aim of this course is to give an understanding of the activity of technical translation and equip students with the skills and techniques required as professional translators of technical texts. Classes are primarily practical with an IT element, translation exercises and discussions. to simulate the professional environment, the module is organised largely around teamwork. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the students will have become familiar with the use of information technology and computers in translation work. They will also have acquired the skills and knowledge required for the activity of technical translation, including the developmnet of certain specialisms, techniques and resources for background research, terminology management, text analysis, document preparation and production, time management, project management and networking.
