Exploitation, Expulsions, Extermination (P01277)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : HCA-P-ExExEx This course is an integral component of the taught MSc degree programme, The Second World War in Europe (History). It deals with the exploitation of both ethnic minorities, in Germany and its empire in particular, and foreign labourers conscripted to work in Germany. It also considers forced population movements, both during the war and through expulsions - especially of ethnic Germans from eastern Europe - at the end of the war. And it deals with the persecution and extermination of targeted minority groups, in particular Jews in German-occupied Europe. Students will acquire an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter of these subjects. In particular, they will acquire a facility for dealing with comparative history. They will improve their oral skills through participation in group discussion, as well as through the presentation of seminar papers. They will improve their written skills through the written assignment. They will improve their team working skills within the group. Above all, they will improve their problem-solving skills.
