Acoustics and Music Technology: Final Project (P01421)? Credit Points : 60 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : PHY-P-P01421 This course comprises a supervised individual research project, in which the principles and techniques developed during the taught component of the programme are applied in an area relevant to music technology. At the start of the Project, the student and project supervisor(s) will define the topic to be addressed and develop a plan for its performance. This course centres on the execution of that plan, through to the production of a c.15,000 word dissertation describing the project and the delivery of a short presentation outlining its important features. The topic of the project must be agreed with the Programme Director, but may be chosen with the student's personal interests in mind, provided that it constitutes original work conducted solely by the student, in accordance with University regulations. On completion of this course, students should be able to:
(1) conduct original research, according to a plan agreed with the project supervisor(s); (2) demonstrate time-management and organizational skills through adherence to the project plan; (3) apply scientific principles and techniques in an area relevant to music technology; (4) describe, orally and in writing, the salient points of the context, planning and execution of a research project.
