Current Topics in Psychological Research (P01594)

This courses gives students exposure to a variety of ares of Psychology in which our local research community excels. The series of research based lectures has a numer of aims:
1. to show how choice and use of methdology is influenced by the particular subject matter.
2. to examine how contextual factors affect collection and meaning of evidence.
3. give students the opportunity to discuss current research issues with experts in the area.

Topics normally include:
- Health and Differential psychology research
- Developemental research
- Social Psychology methods
- Cognitive Neuropsychology

Venue
- S37, 7 George Square
- 6th March lecture will be held in the Gaddum Lecture Theatre, Neuroscience Building

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

1. Understand the underlying theoretical principles of at least two local research projects.
2. Be able to explain how research questions have influenced the methodologies that were chosen to explore the hypotheses under exploration.

Assessment Information

1 x 3000 word report in the style of a 'TICS' journal paper, related to a topic on the course.
