Public Sector Financial Management (P01750)

The course aims to develop students knowledge and understanding of students financial management within the public sector. Students will be introduced to the major financial tools used within the public sector. The course aims to develop a critical as well as an operational capability of students in analysing and handling the above mentioned tools. The course intends to develop a capability and knowledge that students will be able to develop in their specific working environment.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The intended learning outcomes aims to make the students able to:
- compare, appraise and evaluate different financial management techniques;
- identify strengths and weakness of the major financial tools in use, drawing on appropriate examples;
- demonstrate an understanding of financial management concepts and terminology.

Assessment Information

Student will be assessed on both coursework (30%) and a final exam (70%). For the coursework students are expected to hand in an essay of maximum 2,000 words. The exam will be of two hours duration. No exemptions will be offered
