Design Media and Culture Dissertation (P01822)

This is a major project culminating research into digital media and culture. Work can commence in semester 2, though approval to proceed will depend on the outcome of the Examination Board meeting at the end of semester 2. Work should continue to the August submission date.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

On completing the course students should be able to
- write, present and converse knowledgably and critically on digital media and its social, cultural and theoretical contexts
- compare and evaluate different theoretical positions regarding digital media and culture
- demonstrate understandings of the cultural and social context in which digital technologies are developed and promoted
- develop an understanding of the interrelationship between different media, such as film, architecture, music, texts, television, magazines, mainstream and alternative art forms, and performance
- critically evaluate texts and arguments on digital media and culture
- embark on a self-directed programme of research into digital media and culture

Assessment Information

A major essay or report of 15,000 words.
