Early Modern Gaelic and its Texts (P01895)? Credit Points : 40 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : LLC-P-P01895 The course consists of an introduction to Early Modern Gaelic language, orthography and sources, followed by study of appropriate prose and/or verse texts, together with supporting studies in the literary tradition, palaeography, and textual criticism. Entry Requirements? Pre-requisites : Approval of the instructor, which will normally require successful completion of an Honours degree programme in Scottish Gaelic language/literature. The course aims to provide students with a thorough grouding in Early Modern Gaelic pronunciation and orthography, and the capacity to read critically Early Modern Gaelic prose and verse.
Assessment Information
A series of written grammar and translation exercises (50% of the final course mark) and a final examination (50%).
