Scottish Gaelic Dialect Studies (P01931)

The Module will involve students in investigation of the Modern Scottish Gaelic dialects, their distribution, inter-relationships and emergence, together with the inter-relationship between dialects and language register.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The course aims to provide students with a thorough grounding in Gàidhlig dialectology through a consideration of what distinguishes dialects from one another, and how and why they arise.

Assessment Information

A 2000-3000 word essay, counting as 100% of the final course mark.
