Practices and Policies in Context (P02025)

The aim is to enable students to apply knowledge and skills gained in preceding courses to the design and execution of a research project on a topic of current concern.

The study may be located within your own organisation, or in other contexts should this prove difficult. Students are encouraged to develop a collaborative dimension to this project. Collaboration can be defined in a variety of ways, including:

 Discussing proposed topics and processes/outcomes of investigation with colleagues on the course and/or in the institution in which the topic is to be explored,

 Developing active participation in the project from colleagues or other appropriate people in the institution in which the research is to be developed.

? Normal year taken : Postgraduate

? Delivery Period : Full Year (Blocks 1-4)

? Contact Teaching Time : 24 hour(s) per week for 1 weeks

? Additional Class Information : The taught components of the EdD take place in four one-week blocks. These are normally in early January, April, July and mid September. The exact dates will be specified at least one year in advance to assist with planning.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The course requires you to demonstrate the ability to design and conduct a theoretically-informed study, using appropriate methods, with attention to issues of professional relevance and collaboration.

Assessment Information

A written assignment of 6,000 to 10,000 words.
