European Banking and Securities Law (P02240)? Credit Points : 40 ? SCQF Level : 11 ? Acronym : LAW-P-P02240 This course will provide an understanding in the EU law on banking and securities law - with some references to international and national laws and the economic context of the law too. With respect to banking law, it will, for instance, deal with credit transfers, clearing and settlement, money laundering, consumer credits, and the supervision of financial institutions. With respect to securities law, topics include the regulation of stock exchanges, investment firms, investment funds, IPOs, financial reporting, securities fraud and insider dealing. The primary aim is a comprehension of the legal framework on European banking and securities law. By attending the course students will get a substantial and critical knowledge of the relevant EU directives and regulations. Furthermore, economic questions and the international scope of banking and securities law will be taken into account. The overall purpose is therefore to provide a theoretical and practical understanding of banking and securities law, which can be useful for academic as all well as professional work in this field.
