Contemporary South Asian Issues and Debates (P02320)

An interdisciplinary introduction to the latest ideas and theoretical issues concerning politics, religion, culture, history, economy, and community that are relevant to students studying all aspects of modern South Asia. Relevant practical research methodology questions will also be addressed.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

- Techniques of close reading and textual analysis
- Presentational abilities
- Acquisition of collaborative skills in the group discussion of technical issues in social, cultural and historical theory.
- A familiarity with contemporary theoretical and methods employed in the interdisciplinary study of South Asia.
- A capacity to compare and assess the knowledge-claims and methods of competing disciplinary perspectives on South Asia.
