? Credit Points : 20  ? SCQF Level : 11  ? Acronym : LLC-P-P02485

Short Description The course is the core subject-specific preparation for students
who wish to carry out research in the Arabic speaking world. It
will explore the key theoretical, methodological and practical issues involved in carrying out research in the Arabic speaking world,
with the aim of helping students develop their own research ideas. The
course has two key components. The first is the presentation and
discussion of research proposal, which must placed in the context of
wider theoretical, disciplinary, methodological and political issues,
both general and specific to the Arabic speaking world. The second is a close analysis of key texts in the study of the Arabic speaking world
from a range of disciplines. Students must give a presentation in which
they put a key text within the context of wider regional and theoretical
debates, and say how and why it will contribute to their research.
