Case Studies: Business Management in China and India II (P02511)

Description: This module leads students into discussion of a range of modern management issues and strategies in the context of China and India. Teaching materials are largely based on empirical cases which allow students to be familiar with real-world businesses, enabling an analytical approach that can be more objective and explored in a concrete context. In this way the course will help student understand the practical problems and challenges involved in managing business in China and/or India. Cases are selected on a year to year basis to reflect key contemporary issues. Some major issues from development studies are also highlighted.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Outcomes: Students learn to approach management issues in real-world businesses and to carry out critical analyses of case studies, and to identify common business problems in the context of social economic and political transition in China or India; and gain knowledge and understanding of the competitive changes arising from the globalisation of business and its particular manifestation in China and/or India.
