Acronym : SPS-3-POIS This course aims to provide a broad conceptual framework for understanding and analysing the post-Cold war security environment and for assessing the appropriate policy responses. This includes an assessment of how the main theories of International Relations provides insights into international security and the conditions for war and peace. An evaluation of the role of principal international and regional security institutions along with the policies of the most powerful states will be made. The implications of 9/11 and the emergence of the so-called 'new' security agenda will be made.
