The course is aimed at managers in the public services who wish to learn more about the trajectories of public management reform that will affect their work, private sector managers who wish to improve their familiarity with the workings of public service organizations, and others who wish to understand the particular form and content of the management of public services.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To consider the key concepts and contexts of public management reform in a global context

To explore and evaluate the trajectories of public management reform in the UK and elsewhere

To review the changing balance of the public, private and non-profit sectors in providing public services

To consider the implications of these trajectories for the governance and management of public services in different global cohorts

Assessment Information

3,000 word assignment on an individual topic.
