Gender and Development (SY0042)

? Credit Points : 20  ? SCQF Level : 10  ? Acronym : SPS-3-SYGD

Gender Studies and development studies are both interdisciplinary in orientation, and both touch on issues that are often treated in isolation from one another. In relation to work and family life, health and welfare, population policies and reproductive rights, environment and international economic change, pre-existing patterns of gender differences mean that development processes have differential effects on women and men, and policies intended to influence social and economic change in one arena of social life may have important implications for others. This course reflects on these wide-ranging concerns by addressing several issues that are key in gender studies and development studies alike.
