Counselling within the Health Care Setting (U00307)

Introduction to several theories of counselling: person-centred, cognitive, psychoanalytical. Introduction to counselling skills approaches, Egan, Heron. Application of theory to practice within the health care setting to explore issues that arise out of practice.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

To gain an understanding of the range of theoretical approaches to counselling; to familiarise the student with counselling skills; to explore the relationship of context, health status and counselling.

Assessment Information

One set course paper 2000-2500 words counts as 50%. One student choice of topic 2000-2500 words counts as 50%.
