Psychology of Appetite and Eating (U00462)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : PPL-4-PAEAT-PS The course provides an overview of contemporary research into understanding the normal control of food intake and disordered eating. It will be multidisciplinary in nature, drawing on a wider literature from other social sciences. There will be a particular emphasis on examining the developmental changes which occur throughout life and the unique challenges presented in early infancy. Biological and cultural constraints on eating will be a continuous theme and the course will draw on both the animal and the human literature. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Understanding the contribution and the limits of animal studies when applied to human eating;
- understanding the relevance of the material covered to health practice especially primary care; - understanding the importance of different methodologies and insights from anthropology and sociology to explaining food choice. Assessment Information
