The course provides a detailed exploration of significant issues in current theoretical semantics. Topics include:
- representation vs. interpretation (inc;uding deduction and model theory);
- quantification (including generalised quantifiers);
- anaphora and definiteness;
- tense, aspect and event theory;
- intensionality and possible worlds.

Entry Requirements

Pre-requisites : Honours Foundation: Syntax and Semantics Please note: Full year visiting and exchange students who wish to take this course must either take the above pre-requisite course in Semester 1 or show that they have done an equivalent course at their home university. This course also requires English Language 2 or Linguistics 2A + 2B or Linguistics 2A + 2L.
