The course considers twelve themes relating to the domestic history of the Third Reich: the Nazi consolidation of power; racial and gender politics; law, terror and the police state; propaganda and culture; 'autarky', production and consumption; workers and the German Labour Front; education and the professions; the Christian churches and Nazism; the home front in wartime; German resistance; the 'Final Solution'; a 'totalitarian' state? General students require a pass in European History 1 or its equivalent.
